Pallas Athena

Athena, my greek goddess archetype. Athene or Athena has been my goddess of choice ever since i learned mythology, or even before that. i amy have been the goddess athena herself, a reincarnate; stripped of the divine powers but not of the divine knowledge.
ok. pardon the exaggeration but thats how i want to think about why i chose athena to be my goddess archetype.
Athena the daughter of Zeus, the Olympian God, is the Greek Goddess of Wisdom, Justice, War and the Patron of Crafts. Her city is Athens and her favorite tree or the tree identified with athena is the olive tree. She is mostly identified with the owl and she carries the aegis or the shield of Zeus with the head of the gorgon Medusa. In most accounts, Athena was known to have emerged from the forehead of Zeus. "Zeus suffered a great headache and just when his forehead was splitting, out sprung a fully grownAthena in her glorious countenance". However it was also construed that Athena was the daughter of Zeus and the titan Metis. Zeus swallowed Metis because it has been prophesied the Metis will give birth to a child which will overthrow him. Metis was then pregnant with athena thus metis and athena were inside Zeus and when athena was born from metis she grew up there until the time when Athena went out through the forehead of Zeus.
Athena was one of the three virgin Godesses. Artemis and Hestia were the other 2. Athena was the one who helped protect Achilles and his army in the battle of Troy.
to be continued..
i still have to study my subjects so i will continue my account of athena.
fly me away
i cannot believe that i am allowing myself to get this busy!. when i was in the nursing program, i rarely studied any of my lessons and i would never try to read and familiarize any topic about nursing. however now that i am in pyschology, i find my brain being challenged by the constant stimulus from the teachers. except for one teacher, that is. anyways i think that in this course, i am beginning to understand who i am and i am beggining to be in contact with all the archetypes in my collective unconscious and hopefully attain individuation.
now that is scrap. anyways, my sched is so busy and yet i still find time to post something in this blog. its just sad to know that i do not have the talents and skills of other writers to attract a significant amount of readers in their blogs and blah blah blah. whatever. i just want to make money through blogging but it seems to me that i will have a hard time generating revenues from blogging. maybe through time i will discover the secrets of making money through blogging and rest assured that i am gonna SHARE IT TO THE WORLD.
so, i havent eaten my dinner yet. most of the time i only eat once a day thats why i got so thin in a few short weeks. i do not know what caused the rapid decrease of my weight but then again i believe that i have been subjected to a lot of crisis situations which greatly affecte my nutrition and health. I just remembered that we are gonna have a quiz on economics and i havent studied yet, tomorrow we will also be having a discussion on Karen Horney's psychoanalytical social theory and on Sullivans theory and i havent read a single word about it. instead, i am here writing about in this blog.
My stomach is shouting for food and yet i am too lazy to go downstairs and fix myself something to eat. id rather be here and increase the blog potential than eat and feed myself. see, i need money. BADLY. anyways i do not know when this economic crisis will end. i just hope that this will end quickly so that my family can enjoy and economic freedom, in other words become debt free.
so there it is about my day and about my concurrent thoughts and dreams and whatever it is that i am feeling or thinking.
poverty sucks
Monday, September 3rd, 2007do you know how it feels to not be able to go out because you have nothing to wear?. as in!. yes, you have clothes but fit only inside the house in a sense that they are really household clothes and you cannot wear those other good clothes because if you do, you will have nothing to wear during wash days in school. poverty is such a terrible terrible thing. it is so sad live like this.. always thinking of what to wear next as if there where lots of choices when in fact i only own less than a dozen shirts and even fewer pants. new pants of shirts are not options for me since i have lots of stuff to prioritize first such as my shampoos and soap and papers for schoolworks and the like. it sort of depresses me but i do not allow it to get to me so much because i do not want to wallow in pain. as if this was such a grave problem, but then again i am an adolescent and being an adolescent, i am entitle to my fair share of narcissism. its not that i want to have lots and lots of clothes.. i just want to look presentable and neat so that i can have more confidence and i can be more sure of myself.. well that's it.. someday life will turn around and i will be able to get what i need and what i want.
nocturnal emissions
well well well. how would you feel if your teacher asked you to report a certain topic and you promptly prepare for it only to find out that your teacher is gonna discuss it anyway. i dont really understand why she would assign a topic which she would discuss. well anyways thanks for the effort nalang. ganun nalag yun. however i am still gonna report what i have outlined for myself even if it is a repetition of what she had just discussed. its not my fault if the topic was already discussed. what am i to do? make my own topic?. so im gonna report this wednesday and i dont care. grrrr.
so my report is about adolescence and the changes in the physical development of an individual.
Adolescence is a developmental transition which marks the end of childhood. This is a period in life wherein there are revolutionary interraletad changes in the physical, cognitive and social aspects of an individual. Puberty marks the onset of adolescence. Puberty is a phase in the life cycle wherein an individuals reproductive organs are developed and sexual maturation is attained. Typically adolsecence starts during the age of 10 -11 or less until late teens or early twenties. So most of the elementary students until college students are adolescents. SOme children experience early pubertal changes because of different environments and orientations. NOurishment is one factor in speeding up or slowing down the onset of puberty. other factors include the pheromones, genes, exposure to intense activity such as swimming, jogging and other active sports delays puberty and also there is a critical weight to be achieved to trigger puberty.
After the adolescent growth spurt, which is a period during adolescence wherein there is a rapid increase in weight and height of an individual, sexual maturation occurs.
How does sexual maturation occur?
The pituitary gland or the master gland secretes hormones which activates the gonads to produce FSH (follicle stimulizing hormone) and LH ( Luteinizing hormone ) which in turn will release hormones which triggers or stimulates the ovaries of the woman to produce the feminizing hormones estrogen and progesterone. So these hormones are responsible for the changes in the physical development of women namely the development of the ovaries, uterus, the change in the roundedness of the hips and also for breast development, development of pubic and axillary hair and also increase in activity of the sebaceous gland which is responsible for body odor and pimples. Because the reproductive organs of the female has already been developed the female will now experience menstruation. The first menstruation is called menarche. For boys, the hormones will stimulate the testes to produce testosterone. Testosterone is a masculinizing hormone responsible for the changes in the physical development of boys such as changes in skin texture, body odors, axillary and bodily hairs, growth of the penis, scrotum, seminal vesicles and prostate glands and deepening of the voice. Testosteron is also a requirement in the production of sperm. So basically during adolescence a boy first experiences ejaculation. The first ejaculation of a boy is called spermarche. Nocturnal emissions or wet dreams are manifestations of sexual maturation, these dreams are usually erotic dreams.
The adolescent brain is a work in progress. This is the time wherein the brain starts to develop and grow and form itself. There will be expansion of cognitive abilities but then again reason, judgement and critical abilities are not yet developed since the gray matter starts to develop from the temporal lobe. The temporal lobe is the site of amygdala which is more concerned with the emotions and instincts so it may be the explanation why adolescents tend to follow their emotions that listen to reason and why they are risky and carefree.
