4th Mayor’s cup. triathlon.

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

today i woke up at 5:30 in the morning from a sleepy daze on top of the banig my friend's house. such an early hour to wake in such a beautiful sleepy day. anyways we, together with my bf and my two other guy friends, were supposed to wake up before 5 am and we were supposed to be at the insular lobby to get instructions for the event of the day. The 4thTriathlon mayor's cup or something of that sort has already started and we were supposed to be the marshalls on the bike category. anyways, we forced ourselves to wake up and go to the place were we are to meet and get our instructions for the game. neglecting the frigid cold of the showers we walked our way out of bacaca, hailed a cab and eventually met with our other late groupmates. after the brief instructions and the jerseys ( which was more like the ones the TMC's wore with an orange fishnet and a yellow translucent whatever ) we went to our stations and waited for the players. the three of us ( me, brylle and sangay ) were stationed at petron in R. Castillo. it was quite motivating  because we had the right to stop vehicles from intruding into the biker's turning area. if they push their luck they would get arrested.  somehow we were given power to control other people's behavior.lols. anyways our job started when #104, a guy, came pelting into the turning  point we were assigned to man. he was the first player to arrive, which means that his partner finished the swimming category first; he finished the biking category first as well. bikers has to finish 3 laps, from the insular area to R. castillo. after 104 more bikers came.

there was this one biker, #08, she amazed and inspired me because she was the 12th biker (out of 100 ) to arrive in our turning point and she is a GIRL.  she beat almost 80+ guys.  anyways i cannto tell you much about the technical details of the games, i dont know much  since i dont care that much except for the jersey that they were supposed to give the marshalls.( which i havent got so far ) so after the game they had the awarding ceremony. *of course*. i found out that #08 was a recent champion of a habagat game and according to the announcer, people were amazed by her capabalities because she beat tough guys in the field and she emerged as one of the champions in a highly masculine sport. see, i really admire her for her prowess and her power. she truly deserve her win. of course i admire her more for her control and patience. it takes a lot to be able to fit in her shoes. takes a lot of patience, lots of waking up early to jog or run for a lot of km.s, lots of control on what food to eat, what activities to do and that stuff since you need to have lots of supplements for your physical practices. well i have tried joining an adventure race and also i have watched athletes practice and its not such a simple matter. in fact you have a lot of things to watch and be careful about. lest you compromise your health. important things in races such as these are the stamina, power, endurance and of course the rate of breathing ()hangin)or whatever term they put it. well i give ms #08 my elusive applause.

anyways i congratulate all the players for joining the game. see i cannot even join it because i know i cannot do what they do. i can only go there and be a marshal. someday though if time will allow it, i will join in races like that. as for now, i will be a marshall, an observer, a critic and a fan.
