yoga: a new way of life.

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

yesterday, a mountaineering friend came over and we spent lots of time talking about stuff and catching up on each other's lives. we talked about his experiences because mine was the usual, boring, school day-to-day routinary stuff. He told me that he was able to come by my house because an office of something where he has to file some papers and have them signed, was located near my boarding house. The discussion was all about alternatives to life, and outlook on the different stuff and things that we can try in life. Well one was that of being a vegetarian. he told me that his family has adopted a new lifestyle which is semi-vegetarian-ish and i gasped at the concept of not eating anything other than the green stuff. Well, i couldnt live without fats and lipids stored in my system so i pretty much am amazed with people who have grown up all their lives eating pork and meat and then convert themselves to vegeterians. motivation must be great and it must prove to be important and worth standing up for. anyways what hooked me up inthe conversation was that of yoga. he told me that his brother was practicing yoga and that his brother met all kinds of people there. Thats not exactlyt the fascinating stuff. whats awesome is the fact that people here in DAvao really are into yoga. i thought it was some practice somewhere else. not here in my local setting. because i think that yoga is an art wherein high levels of intellectual functioning is required for a person to be able to access the innermost parts or depths of their own persona. whew. i think that was deep. and so is yoga. i do not really now the principles, values and codes in yoga but speaking from a "beginners yoga "point of view, i think that it is  a practice wherein concentration and meditation prevails. and those are the things which i would like to develop and know. people doing yoga can usually sit for long periods of time, concentrating and meditating. everytime they do this, they usually are in non-distracting places. what or where those places are, i do not know. anyways i think that yoga is a new way of life, and one which i would like to practice to be able to have more control of my life and to be able to put things in perspective. so what is yoga?. really?. well if you would search in in google you will find various definitions with all but the same meaning or purpose: to transcend beyond the finite, to unite the body and the mind. as for now my research has gotten that far; of what yoga is and the experiences it could offer.

i know that yoga might be demanding or something but i think constant practice or whatever term they have for practice will make a person adept and capable of attaining unity. more like the balance of yin and yang.. hmm.. i wonder what beginners yoga would be like?. maybe ill call my friend and ask him about and and how to access those people who practice yoga. they say its really life changing and you will feel confident and more accepting of who you are and of who you are not.

im literally a newbie in this. a beginner in yoga. everything has a beginning, i now i have to start somewhere. i think that the life i am living will become much better and i think that yoga will help me live that better life. i really need to accept who i am and i think yoga can help me. what is begginers yoga like?. could i be consistent in this?. (these are some of the questions popping through my mind; which i dont have answers to). if i dont try it, ill never know. so here i go!. come with me so youll also know!. =p

bye for now!.
