Rundown on Red Cross Training Davao City
Saturday, May 30th, 2009
Last day of the Red Cross First Aid and Basic Life Support Training is the Water Safety Program.
Together with the Instructor we learned how to stay safe in the water and how to save lives even if we are non-swimmers.
Things to remember when in the water:
1. Dont swim alone
2. Dont swim on an empty stomach or after eating, it will cause cramps and you wouldnt want it
3. When saving someone it is best to go from the behind, take care so they wont grab hold of you and pull you down
4. In swimming pools always follow the instructions given by the resort or the owner. Its for your safety
5. Never go to the water when Lightning is around. You wouldnt want to be fried fish.

Here we are recieving instructions from our sexy instructor. (sexy because he was wearing a skimpy bikini. Lols). We were taught how to grab a drowned victim and how to administer cpr to prolong and increase the chances of the victim to survive. Tips, when you go down into the pool you should take a shower first so that you body could gradually adjust to the temperature of the water. Your body can go to shock or can experience cramps when it is suddenly exposed to hot ot cold temperatures. When you have cramps in the water, stay calm and float on your back. Swim using a different stroke or raise your hands to call for help.

This was during lunch time, after we already passed our water safety program training. We all successfully passed the water safety program and we were all happy about it.

This is us in action!.Focus on the immediate problem. Check the airway, breathin and circulation of the victim.

These are my groupmates during the situational analysis of the red cross training program. Our victim was caught unawares in a bombing incident. She suffered from a head injury, bent elbow, fractured leg and bleeding on the right arm. As trainees, fresh from the classroom instruction and simulations, we administered first aid, cpr, bandaging and splinting. We were actually quite excited and we loved the experience. It was a fun training experience and it left me nostalgic for at least a 2 or 3 days. Yes I do attach myself to experiences and its hard letting go. Oh well I had fun, that’s whats important.
